This weekend will give soccer fans a small taste of the domestic football league in the months leading up to the start of the new season’s pre-season. The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, and is expected to draw hundreds of thousands of people who normally wouldn’t be willing to travel there.
In preparation for the NFL Draft, the city announced it would erect a Hollywood-style Detroit sign and welcome outsiders to the city. But what happened is going to be the laughing stock of the internet because people didn’t get the signs they were expecting.
The sign even inspired residents like Detroit rapper Gmac Cash to write a song or two about how ridiculous the signs on the side of the freeway are. Now, cities like Warren are applauding and jumping on the troll train, where someone in the city has erected a cardboard sign similar to the one in Detroit.
The big difference, as you can see below, is that the cardboard one doesn’t light up… yet.
Which billboard do you think is better, and more importantly, do you think the Warren billboard is better suited to the advertising content?
Personally, I think this sign is funny and I love the fact that something that was supposed to be so uplifting for the city and state has now turned into hardcore buffoonery. It perfectly represents the charm of this city. We can laugh at ourselves, but it’s still ours.
I can’t wait to see Warren’s autograph in person, and I think the same goes for the Detroit autograph.
