Pat Maroon’s big hit sends Leafs player to Bruins bench first appeared on NBC Sports Boston
BOSTON — The Bruins acquired Pat Maroon from the Minnesota Wild on March trade deadline day for games including Saturday night’s first-round playoff series opener against the Toronto Maple Leafs. However, the veteran forward did not disappoint from the start.
Not long after assisting on John Beecher’s goal in the first period, Maroon had a big hit that put Leafs defenseman Timothy Liljegren on the B-team’s bench. The play brought the excited TD Garden crowd to its feet.

Maroon underwent hip surgery in February with the Wild and did not make his Bruins debut until April 13 against the Penguins. He appeared in two regular season games for Boston and then started as the No. 4 in Game 1 against the Leafs.
Maroon comes into Saturday’s matchup with 150 playoff games experience and three Stanley Cup rings (2019 with the Blues, 2020 and 2021 with the Lightning).
