DALLAS — Texans can now ride waves without leaving the state.
“Here in Dallas, Texas, you can experience real surfing and do real surfing,” said Fireside Surf co-founder Patton Nix.
He and his business partner just opened the only restaurant and bar in Texas with a wave box.
“It’s a standing wave, so it doesn’t travel over land. It stays in one place and forms. This product was reverse-engineered from the waves of a river in Munich, Germany. So, basically, it’s a wave from a river in Munich, Germany. We put the wave in the box,” Nix explained.
The surf pool uses Flowstate, a video-based surfing technology powered by artificial intelligence technology. This is an attraction where surfers from beginners to experts can ride dangerous waves.
Flowstate cameras monitor and record while you are inside a deepwater standing wave pool.
Mike Mortimer, co-founder and chief product officer at Flowstate, said: “You can look back minutes after your session ends and ideally get back on the water and surf some more.” he said.
The AI technology not only captures footage, but can also analyze a surfer’s form.
“We use body biomechanics and AI models to help people identify where things could have been better, to really identify what is going well and what is going wrong. , which helps provide something like a critical immediate solution,” Mortimer said.
This technology is revitalizing the surfing community in North Texas.
“Our goal is to see similar professional surfers win championships in professional competitions that come from Dallas, Texas or any of these places where we host Fireside Surf,” Nix said. Ta.
