Families in the mountains should mark the reopening of Movies in the Park on their calendars. Pac Square Park with screening of Wonka A beloved summer tradition held on Friday, May 10th, Asheville Parks & Recreation (APR) and sponsorship american au pairthe popular series will screen family favorites on a free giant outdoor screen, creating the city’s largest outdoor movie experience in the heart of downtown.
Community members are invited to bring blankets and lawn chairs to the free viewing, which begins after dusk on the second Friday of each month. The April Rec and Role Play Zone will open approximately one hour before showtime and feature games, music and other activities for children and youth, as well as themed giveaways while supplies last.
“Movies in the Park is an annual movie created by the Asheville Parks & Recreation team with the goal of connecting community members through the unique power of shared experiences,” said APR Director D. Tyrell McGirt. “It’s one of the thousands of opportunities we have.” “This free program allows neighbors to watch the latest releases and classic blockbusters on a big screen with a spectacular backdrop of the historic Art Deco facade of Asheville City Hall, facing towering mountains and a starry sky.” Asheville’s town square, Pack Square Park, is centrally located, making it easy for community members to walk, bike, or ride to the shows. - All movies begin after dusk at Pack Square Park at 80 Court Plaza in downtown Asheville. Approximate show times are below, but please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early.
- Please bring a blanket and folding chair to stay comfortable.
- APR Rec n Roll Play Zone activities begin approximately one hour prior to showtime.
- Bring money to purchase treats from local vendors, including Asheville’s Kona Ice and world-famous Colonel Mike’s Kettle Corn.
