But some may point out that Season 2 characters like Azula, Mai, and Ty Lee have appeared on the Netflix show, so why hasn’t Toph? Well, but it makes you wonder if these characters were introduced earlier because they have a connection to main character Zuko. Toph is from the Earth Kingdom and didn’t have much of a connection to the main cast until her first appearance.
We have no doubt that whenever Netflix greenlights a hopefully season 2, Toph will be front and center. Hell, the first teaser poster for that season will probably feature her silhouette or famous quote.they certainly won’t try to do that Avatar: The Last Airbender Without her, Toph’s strength as a character alone would have somehow been able to overcome the wall between fiction and reality and set them straight. That’s how powerful she is.
If you’re looking for more of Toph, rewatching the original series isn’t the only place to see her. She also appeared as a major character in the fourth season of her sequel series. the legend of korra. Much older, Toph was still as fun as ever and didn’t put up with the nonsense of the new cast. We also get to see her have some really heartwarming interactions with Korra, as in her new avatar she carries a part of Aang within herself.
That Toph ended up appearing at the end of the sequel series is incredible to consider, especially when she was radically different in the beginning. Michael Dante DiMartino explained: Avatar: The Last Airbender – The Art of the Animated SeriesHe and co-creator Bryan Konietzko originally envisioned the character as “a tough, cocky blind teenager who becomes Aang’s earthbending teacher.”
When head writer Aaron Ehasz suggested making Toph a girl, the character’s fate changed forever. Initially, DiMartino and Konietzko resisted the idea, but quickly changed their minds. As DiMartino explained, “We loved the idea of taking all of Toff’s original personality traits and putting them into the body of her adorable 12-year-old girl. I can’t imagine it any other way.”
And we can’t imagine Netflix Avatar: The Last Airbender Without Toph. Hopefully, once we get season 2, she’ll be right around the corner.
