On Sunday afternoon, No. 1 ranked University of Notre Dame will host No. 19 Georgetown in a college lacrosse ranking showdown.
The Fighting Irish (2-0) outscored their opponents 46-11 and are on track to start the season with two wins. Three Notre Dame players scored 10 points through the first two games, including the Kavanaugh brothers, Chris and Pat.
Chris, a junior attacker, has already scored seven goals. He led the Fighting Irish with 46 goals last season. Pat, a graduate student, had 10 assists. That’s not a bit surprising considering he holds the program’s all-time career assist record.
Meanwhile, a trip to South Bend will be a tough test early in the season for the Hoyas. The Hoyas will test their mettle against the defending champions.
Georgetown (1-2) picked up its first win of the season with a 12-9 win over Penn last Saturday. Prior to that, the Hoyas had lost games to Loyola and Johns Hopkins.
Senior TJ Haley leads Georgetown with 12 points through the first three games.
The two programs met last February, with Notre Dame winning 15-8. Overall, the Fighting Irish hold the series advantage with his 11-8 record.
