sunshine is coming: Songwriter has a new single coming out this week Drew Beskin, I’ve been especially in tears over the last few years with solid releases. Between his solo records and the records credited to his band, The Sunshine, a long time has passed since listeners could claim to have been disappointed by him. And with this new release, it looks like disappointment will have to wait a little longer. His new single “Short Straws” is a nice, steady indie rock track with a medium-low tempo. super canoe and bought a zoo record. While lyrically strong, this is an aspect of Beskin’s songwriting that I feel doesn’t get mentioned enough. The weather outside is probably still a little too cold to listen to this spring-like song. In that case, please be patient for a few weeks. Also participating are Tommy Trautwein, Gideon Johnston, Hunter Pinkston, McKendrick Bearden and Spencer Thomas. As of February 22nd, you can find it at drawbeskin.bandcamp.com, drawbeskin.com, and all major streaming services. Beskin is scheduled to perform a solo set with Gracie Huffman (Easy) and Juliana Money at Flickr on March 9th.
look alive: Sebastian Marquez (ex-Dead Neighbors) first unleashed his project slime ring It was opened to the public a few years ago.Last month, Marquez released a new EP with Drew Kirby (ex-Mothers) marching banana label. The entries in the label catalog are titled as follows: 091: Explorer Series Vol. 1. Although it bears no resemblance to the guitar-driven indie rock of Dead Neighbors, Slime Ring is an exploratory electronic and seemingly open-ended project. It had several guests on board, including Weeka, and records show Hannah Bo Rector (Lowtown, Ladybush), Kerron (Vessel), and violinist Lily Zwaan (Vessel). Scare Quartz) is also included. While this is mostly fun, it remains a collection of sketches rather than a fully fused concept. Even so, it seems like it will take a considerable amount of time to beat the electro drum and bass of “SIDSI (ft. Wieuca)”. This song alone is worth it. See for yourself at Marchingbanana.bandcamp.com and Slimering.bandcamp.com.

Enter through the front door: An artist originally from Washington DC, but currently establishing himself in Athens. Wim Tapley Released the latest full album, red door, early this month. Since his first single in 2018, Tapley has always been an up-and-coming artist, and his recent success in filling Georgia theaters shows that he’s delivering on that promise, not to mention a steady pace of releases. This is proof that there is. The new album is an incredibly well-crafted record that showcases Tapley’s expansive songwriting style. But importantly, he crafts rustic, emotional capricious songs like “Well Tequila” and nostalgic alt-country songs like “Eranz,” and brings them to the level of “Talk to Me” and “Jefe.” It can be placed right next to a neo-soul burner like this. please don’t shout: Some bands just can’t stop releasing so much music that they end up boring the audience. There’s no chance of that happening Rosie and the Rat Dogs Someday I will fall into such a fate. It’s already been three years since the band’s debut, a three-song EP. Just this month, they finally released their new single “Peench.” This five-minute track of his is presented as his 1990s-inspired grunge and metal hybrid with a pretty classic sound, but there’s a lot packed into it behind the scenes. Like an onion, it slowly reveals itself, becoming a theatrical, if not a little psychedelic song, and ultimately ending on a more raw note than it started with. The band informed me that they are already planning their next single for March, so perhaps you will tire of them sooner than I think. Rosie & the Ratdogs will next perform locally on Tuesday, February 27th at the 40 Watt Club with Apostle (Atlanta), Atest, and Oxystar. In the meantime, find the new rocker at rosieandtheratdogs.bandcamp.com and keep up with the members at facebook.com/rosieandtheratdogs.
