If you use Google Chrome’s password manager to manage online accounts shared with your family, there may be new features in the works that will make your job easier. This potential new feature will allow members of Google Family groups to easily and securely share passwords within the group. Sharing passwords with family members can be a headache, especially if you’re in a hurry and don’t know the login details for a shared group. account. Thankfully, TheSPAndroid has discovered that Android may soon be adding the ability to share passwords within family groups. This was first discovered in the desktop version of Google Chrome and then in the latest version of Google Play Services (version 24.09.12 190400–610662703). This suggests that Google has no intention of leaving Android devices behind when it comes to this feature. In the screenshot I’ll share below, you’ll see a new “Share” button under Saved Accounts, next to “Edit” and “Delete.” “Optional. If you tap it, you’ll see an additional message asking you to confirm that you want to share your password and informing you that this only applies to members of your family group. You can manage this in your Google Account settings.

This feature is still in development, but the screenshots show that the process is very easy for the recipient as well. After you share your password, when your recipient visits your website on their device, they may see a tooltip letting you know that their credentials are available. This feature, in its current form, appears to be designed only for passwords, not passkeys.
It’s important to note that Google is likely still refining the system and procedures may change before the official release. However, once this feature is officially rolled out, you may no longer need to share your passwords in insecure ways, such as unencrypted text messages or emails.
