One thing I truly love is women who kick ass.Whether it’s Furiosa, Ripley, or Samus. my love metroid seriesthere’s nothing I respect more than a woman who cleans the house (and I please do not (This doesn’t mean “wash the dishes and fold the laundry,” but in a drowning pool, it means “slam the corpse on the floor.”)
With that in mind, I thought I would focus on Asian women in Asia. But I don’t want to go back that far. lady snowblood Michelle Yeoh in the 70s Police Story 3: Supercop From the 90s or even Yeoh Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon Since 2000 (however, she has To do (Be sure to make this list.)
No, I only focus on Asian women who kick ass in the modern era. So, here are her six Asian female characters in recent movies and TV shows.
Jubilation Lee (X-MEN ’97)
I’ve been going on forever how much i love X-Men ’97 Almost to the point of being redundant. But I love it!That’s what I think The live-action MCU might learn something from this..
One of the things you’ll learn is how to create a great jubilee. Sure, there were live-action versions of this character in several of the X-Men movies, but unfortunately they all felt like afterthoughts. this Jubilee has an entire storyline centered around her and her boyfriend, Roberto, in a segment called “Motendo.”
This Jubilee, voiced by Holly Chow, kicks ass with firework-like energy plasmoids (yes, fireworks), but the coolest thing about this version is that she knows what she wants. She stands up for what she believes in and fights alongside her friends. other X-Men. How cool is that?
Mariko Toda (General)
I loved almost everything general mini series, But it had some problems. That said, one of those problems is certainly not Mariko Toda, played by the wonderful Anna Sawai.
as someone who loves general novel, I already knew how terrible Mariko-sama is. However, Anna Sawai brought a very interesting side to her character, and she showed someone who is as skilled at crafting poetry as she is at wielding a naginata.
No spoilers. But the fact that she was able to live her life the way she wanted This is just further evidence that she’s been a bad guy for years.
Lia Khan (Polite Society)
Rhea Khan aka The Fury (played by Priya Kansara) wants to become a stuntwoman. She also loves her younger sister Lena (played by Ritu Arya) with all her heart. Their parents are not happy with their life decisions, but at least they are happy. That is until Lena goes on a date with a guy Leah hates.
In this way, Lena becomes happy, but Leah becomes unhappy. And when Leah is in a bad mood, she will hit and kick her, so she will never like her. That’s exactly what villains do.
Ria is more than just a slap happy version. kung fu panda But Poe. She is also extremely loyal to her sister and is willing to learn her reverse roundhouse kick in order to save her sister from a pretty crazy plot involving clones. If you haven’t figured it out yet, polite society is a truly strange (and wonderful!) movie.
Evelyn Quan Wan (Everything Everywhere All at Once)
it still amazes me Everything at once, wherever you are Winner of the Academy Award for Best Picture. In other words, I I love it. (I was making a fuss about that too in front got gold)but it’s pretty shocking to me that a movie with so much kung fu in it was still given the Academy’s highest honor.
I love almost everything about this movie, but my favorite thing about this movie is the character of Evelyn, played by Michelle Yeoh (who screams ass for quite a while).
Evelyn’s character is inspirational in many ways. Because even though her life may seem ordinary on the surface, there are versions of her that are movie stars, versions of her that have hot dog fingers, and even a version of her that can master several martial arts disciplines at once. Because the version is there somewhere. It’s just a matter of seconds.
Sure, this movie has a deeper story about immigration, generational differences, and all kinds of philosophical topics, but I’d be lying if I didn’t say my favorite part was when… Masu. Evelyn fought off several people with her police shield..
Fennec Shand (The Book of Boba Fett/The Mandalorian)
Hey, you. You could probably make a whole list about Ming-Na Wen’s butt. She is the actress who plays Fennec Shand boba fett book/the mandalorianbut she also played Chun-Li. Street Fightervoiced Mulan and served as agent Melinda May Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
But that’s another story. Let’s focus on the fennec fox again. As a mercenary and assassin, she can take care of her own business, and only when she deems it to be advantageous for her will she join forces with the likes of Boba Fett and the Mandalorian. I will cooperate.
That said, she is not only an expert with a rifle, but is also very skilled in hand-to-hand combat, so avoid speaking badly of her at all costs. She is the kind of woman to whom even the Mandalorians owe their lives. But it’s all in a day’s work for her.
Nikki Shen (Kung Fu)
Many years ago, in the distant decade known as the 70’s, there was a TV show called. Kung Fu: The Legend Continues, starring David Carradine as Kwai Chan Cain. He walked the earth and practiced martial arts.Tarantino was clearly a fan and had Carradine play the titular Bill in his film. kill bill series. That was the whole atmosphere.
Flash forward to modern times and we have the following adaptation. kung fu It aired for three seasons on The CW, and this time, instead of hiring a white man to wander the earth, they hired an Asian woman named Olivia Liang. In this series she plays a college student named Nikki Shen. He quits school and goes to study martial arts, but when he returns to San Francisco he finds the Triads have taken over.
Throughout the series, Nikki tries to stop the person who killed her mentor, even though she doesn’t like it.Much like the original, this version kung fu It’s also the atmosphere. Unfortunately there will be no fourth season.
