Leo DiCaprio and Fantastia Barrino removed from SAG Award nominations
USA TODAY’s film critic talks about Fantastia Barrino and Leonardo DiCaprio not being nominated for Screen Actors Guild Awards.
There’s another chance for competitors to stop the “Oppenheimer” juggernaut ahead of next month’s Oscar ceremony.
Saturday’s 30th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, streamed live for the first time on Netflix, will feature actors celebrating the best in acting. Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr., who starred in “Oppenheimer,” were nominated for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor, respectively, and both won. They were part of the cast of Christopher Nolan’s atomic bomb blockbuster, which also starred “Barbie,” “American Fiction,” “The Color Purple,” and “Killers of the Flower Moon” as an outstanding ensemble cast. The cast aims to win this award, and it is the highest award of the night.
Davine Joy Randolph (The Holdovers) won Best Female Supporting Actor and Lily Gladstone (Killers of the Flower Moon) won Best Female Leading Actor.
“The Bear” was an early winner in the TV comedy category, with co-stars Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri winning ensemble and individual awards, and Ali Wong and Steven Yeun winning the Netflix limited series “The Bear.” Beef” won the trophy.
