If you follow Elon Musk on X (formerly known as Twitter), you know that he is very active on the social media platform. Announce important updates about multiple companies, respond to trolls (or even be considered trolls), joke with employees, or express your opinion on a particular matter. Mr. Musk always has something to say. And his recent tweets are all about his Windows laptop, which Mr. Musk isn’t using well.
In fact, X’s boss was so unhappy with his acquisition that he decided to call Microsoft out with a tweet. So what exactly is Mr. Musk’s problem? Windows requires you to create a Microsoft account for use.
In a tweet, Musk revealed how he bought a new laptop and that he couldn’t access it without creating a Microsoft account. The tech mogul elaborated that he doesn’t want to set up a Microsoft account because he doesn’t want to “give Microsoft AI access to my computer.”
“I just bought a new laptop, but I can’t use it unless I create a Microsoft account. That means I’m giving AI access to my computer. This is a mess. Previously, I couldn’t sign in or use it. “There was an option to skip signing in. Creating a Microsoft account. Are you looking at this too?” he wrote.
Interestingly, Musk mentioned in his tweet that X’s Community Notes feature allows you to set up the latest version of Windows without a Microsoft account. However, in another tweet, Musk pointed out that the community notes are not working properly because there is no longer an option to set up Windows without creating a Microsoft account.
“Community Notes is failing here. This option no longer exists,” he wrote.
Some of Musk’s followers responded to his tweet. Some are telling him there are ways around this problem, while others are simply asking him to “buy Microsoft.”
This isn’t the first time Musk has had problems with Microsoft. Last year, tech moguls accused the company of “controlling OpenAI.” Microsoft has invested billions of dollars in ChatGPT’s parent company, and Musk said in a tweet that OpenAI is no longer what it was intended to be, but has become “a most profitable company effectively controlled by Microsoft.” said.
“OpenAI was founded as an open source (which is why I named it “Open” AI), a non-profit company to compete with Google, but is now closed source and effectively controlled by Microsoft. It has become the most profitable company. That was not my intention at all,” he wrote.
For those who aren’t familiar, Elon Musk is one of the founders of OpenAI. Musk resigned from OpenAI in 2018, and he currently has no shares in the company.
