MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) – Miami Beach officials celebrated what they called a successful spring break.
Although some business owners and other critics may disagree, city officials held an awards ceremony for local and state law enforcement agencies Tuesday afternoon.
They were awarded the Law and Order Award for their efforts to keep people safe last month as spring holidaymakers flocked to the city.
“When it comes to public safety, law and order, there is no compromise. Miami Beach Mayor Stephen Miner said protecting people from harm to person or property is non-negotiable.
The city has implemented several measures, including adjusting traffic patterns, tightening parking fees and imposing a late-night curfew.
Officials say this has led to fewer arrests and fewer violent crimes.
However, managers complained that profits suffered significantly during the peak season.
