The classic card carousel that you see when you open the Google app on your mobile device now has a new UI in the latest app update. This section also has a new name: “Your Space.”
Google apps have long focused on “learning” about you and providing useful information for your daily life at a glance. This is evident in things like the widget literally called “At a Glance” and the card carousel that appears below the search box. These cards contain data about items such as the weather, your favorite team’s sports scores, stock prices, and the air quality in your current location.
New design of Google app card carousel
Now, Google is tweaking the UI of these cards to make them more noticeable. It retains its rectangular shape with rounded corners, but has grown in size and its tones have become more prominent among all the elements. The new UI shows more information or distributes information more clearly on each card. This is consistent with Google’s idea of making it easier to access important data with little effort.
Additionally, although the functionality is similar, the company has named this collection of cards “Your Space.” This means the classic cards like sports, air quality, weather, and finances remain, but there are no new cards with information about other items.
According to sources, the new card UI carousel will be available starting with the Google app 15.12 update. In addition to in-app, the redesign will also appear in your Google Discover feed, which you can access by swiping all the way to the left on your Google Pixel or Android device (if enabled).
If you haven’t received the update yet, don’t worry, the redesign is already available in the stable version of Google apps, although the rollout may happen gradually.
