To be honest, I had a hard time caring too much about the long term. Doctor Who The first TV show since the Steven Moffat/Matt Smith era, the latter brought devilish charm and vitality to a character that has been a staple of British popular culture for decades.
No disrespect to Smith’s future successors as the Doctor, such as Peter Capaldi and Jodie Whittaker, but Smith’s Doctor (Eleven in TV parlance) has always been my favorite. And of course Moffat was the perfect writer for him. To be honest, I think it might have something to do with the fact that Smith was on The Doctor when I first learned about his much-loved BBC series. But that’s not all.Everything from that era, from Rory and Amy Pons as the Doctor’s sidekicks to unforgettable episodes such as vincent and the doctor The same goes for Smith’s incredible playback scene, where everything sounded perfect.
Having said everything I wanted to say, to my surprise, I finally found myself excited for the new generation of the show, thanks to the latest edition. Doctor Who It is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ on May 10th. Incidentally, this is also one of at least two TV shows with a 100% perfect critic score on Rotten Tomatoes at this time. Let’s take a closer look at both below.
Will the show be able to recapture some of its past magic? We’ll see, but watching the trailer certainly makes me feel hopeful. In it, Ncuti Gatwa makes his auspicious debut as the 15th Doctor, and as far as I can tell, he certainly brings the kind of boundless, reckless energy we’ve come to expect from this character. It seems like it will.
His sidekick Ruby Sunday is played by Millie Gibson, and the two travel through time and space, visiting everything from the Regency era to a futuristic war-torn world. Along the way, as they traverse the galaxy in the Doctor’s iconic TARDIS, they encounter both foes and allies, as well as the “Bogeyman”, who amounts to the Doctor’s most powerful foe to date.
Meanwhile, Prime Video just released a TV show that also received a 100% score from Rotten Tomatoes.
