The launch of new direct charter flights to Cuba has been postponed until at least next month, and currently only operates from Gatwick Airport.
Direct flights from Gatwick and Manchester airports were due to start in early May. It will be the only direct flight from the UK to the Caribbean island since TUI’s Cuba flights ceased at the end of April.
Alan Meadows, business development manager at Simply Cuba, said that although no official reason was given, it meant that a family holiday he was organizing with a UK agent had to be postponed.
Passenger flights were scheduled to start from Manchester on 10 May, with flights to Holguin every Friday, and from Gatwick to Cayo Coco (pictured) every Sunday from 12 May.
It is understood that flights from Gatwick to Holguin and Havana airports will operate twice a week, with the planned flight to Manchester not operating.
